THE PLAYERS Championship gives back to the community in an effort to build strong and vibrant neighborhoods, improve the quality of life for families and individuals, and make a positive difference in the lives of those who live in northeast Florida. Grants will be awarded in the range of $2,000-$10,000.

THE PLAYERS provides grants to local 501(c)(3) organizations in three primary focus areas:

• Education and Youth
• Health and Human Services
• Arts and Culture

GUIDELINES

ELIGIBILITY -- to be considered for funding, organizations must:
• Have a non-profit, tax-exempt classification under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
• Have broad community support and address specific community needs
• Expend funds and provide services in the following five counties: Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns
• Align with one or more of the Foundation's focus areas: Education and Youth, Health and Human Services, and Arts and Culture
• Practice and provide services without discrimination as protected by law

EXCLUSIONS

Funds will not be granted for the following:
• Individuals
• Private foundations
• Organizations that are grant-making bodies themselves
• Operational expenses (including salaries)
• Travel or conference expenses
• Sponsorships, events or projects for which staff receive tangible benefits or privileges
• Political Action Committees, political causes or candidates
• Debt reduction
• Gifts, honorarium, gratuities

PARAMETERS -- here's what we are looking for:
• Project or program specific needs
• Lives impacted, services provided, needs met, increased reach, etc.

PROCEDURES

When submitting a grant application, please ensure all requested information is included and keep attachments to a minimum.

A. REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

1. Completed Red Coat Grant Application Form
2. Proof of the organization's 501(c)(3) status
3. Recent financial statements (audited statements preferred) or most recent IRS form 990
4. Current listing of officers and members of the Board of Directors
5. Operating budget for the current fiscal year
6. Clear and concise statement of how grant funds will be used
7. Certification of compliance with all applicable laws regarding anti-terrorist funding; a statement may be submitted to affirm you are in compliance with the Patriot Act
- An example would be the following statement on the organization's letter head, which is signed and dated.

Organization Name is in compliance with all applicable laws regarding anti terrorist funding.
8. Non-Discrimination Agreement; a written statement may be submitted
- An example would be the following statement on the organization's letterhead, which is signed and dated.
- Statement example:
By submission of this charitable request, Organization Name affirms that it does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, creed, disability, philosophy, veteran status, marital status or any other basis prohibited by applicable law in either internal policies and procedures or external policies and procedures.
9. List of corporate or significant donors, endowments or foundation funding.

B. PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH THE PLAYERS

If awarded a grant, recipients may acknowledge their partnership with THE PLAYERS and promote such through internal and external communications; provided, however, all such acknowledgments and promotions shall be subject to the prior approval of THE PLAYERS. This may be accomplished through newsletters, websites, events, annual reports, signage, interviews, etc. THE PLAYERS will provide a copy of the logo for recipients to use.

C. GRANT APPLICATION DUE DATE

The due date for grant application submission is July 1, 2011. Applications may be delivered or mailed. All eligible requests will be evaluated thereafter, and notification of the committee's decision will be made in September 2011.
