• For the first time since 2005, three players are tied for the 36-hole lead at 4-under-par 138.Six years ago, Gil Morgan, Lonnie Nielsen and Loren Roberts all shared the lead at 6-under-par 138 when the event was played in Sonoma, Calif.

• This is the fewest strokes under par by the leaders after 36 holes since the inception of this event in 1990. The previous event record was 6-under-par in both 1996 and 2005.

• This is the first time since the third round in 2008 that 68 was the low round of the day. Andy Bean posted a 68 at the Sonoma Golf Club.

• Couples has now led or shared the lead in the last five rounds on the Champions Tour dating back to his previous start at the AT&T Championship in San Antonio.

• So far in 72-hole events in 2011 on the Champions Tour, two of the five eventual winners led after 36 holes. Olin Browne was the 36-hole leader after two rounds at the U.S. Senior Open and Fred Couples led after 36 holes at the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship.

Mark Wiebe posted the sixth hole-in-one in tournament history when he aced No. 3 with a 5-iron on the 174-yard hole. It was his first ace on the Champions Tour and his 14th overall. It was also the sixth on the Champions Tour in 2011. This is the second consecutive year there was an ace at the TPC Harding Park. Bernhard Langer accomplished the feat on No. 3 in the opening round with a 5-iron from 191 yards.

• So far, 10 of 21 of the second-round leaders/co-leaders have won this event, including the last three years.

David Frost and Michael Allen are the only two players who have posted back-to-back rounds in the 60s. This should come as no surprise based on their performance here a year ago. Frost finished T3 in 2010, while Allen was second to John Cook and had a course-record 10-under-par 61 in the third round. Allen also played a number of rounds at TPC Harding Park while growing up in the area.

• Allen has now posted six consecutive sub-par rounds at TPC Harding Park.

• With sunny weather prevalent on Friday, the field scoring average dropped from 72.367 to 71.067. There were 15 sub-par rounds and 10 players finished with rounds in the 60s compared to seven sub-par and four rounds in the 60s in the opening round.

• Chien-Soon Lu's string of consecutive holes without a three-putt came to a halt on his first hole when he four-putted for a double bogey.

• Hole Nos. 12 and 14 remains the two most difficult with average scores of 4.417 (+.417) and 4.350 (+.350), respectively. There have been just two birdies on each hole and both occurred on Friday. Michael Allen and Peter Senior had the birdies on No. 12, while Olin Browne and David Frost had them on No. 14.

• Bernhard Langer has the fewest bogeys in the field with two and Mark Wiebe has the most birdies with 10 to go along with his hole-in-one.

Nick Price rebounded from a 2-over-par 73 on Thursday with a 3-under-par 68 in the second round. He moved up eight spots from a T17 to a T9.

Mark Calcavecchia and Nick Price each recorded eagles on par-4 holes. Calcavecchia holed a wedge from 107 yards on No. 7, while Price chipped in from 40 feet.
