Jul. 4, 2010

Weather: Sunny and hot. High of 93. Winds SSW 8-15 mph.

Justin Rose (70) finished 10-under 270 to record a one-stroke victory over Ryan Moore at the 2010 AT&T National. The victory is the second in the last three starts (the Memorial Tournament) for the 29-year-old. He joins Jim Furyk and Ernie Els as the season's only multiple winners.

Justin Rose

• With the victory, Justin Rose collects 500 points and moves from No. 14 to No. 2 in the FedExCup standings, with 1,542 points. Ernie Els maintains his lead for the 15th consecutive week, with 1,751 points.

• Justin Rose's name has now been atop the leaderboard in eight out of his last 12 rounds on TOUR: the Memorial (Rds. 1, 4), Travelers Championship (Rds. 1, 2, 3) and the AT&T National (Rds. 2, 3, 4).

• Justin Rose and Bubba Watson finished as the top two players, not previously eligible, from a cumulative money list taken from the PLAYERS Championship and the five TOUR events leading up to and including the 2010 AT&T National, to gain entry into the 2010 British Open.

• This is Rose's first victory in six attempts when carrying the lead/co-lead into the final round of a TOUR event:

Rose's win by the numbers: The victory is the 11th this season by a player in his 20s, compared to just seven in 2009...Win is the 14th this season by an international player (12 players), and the 8th in the last 10 events.

• Prior to Sunday, Justin Rose's last three-putt came at the 14th hole in the first round of the 2010 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. Since Colonial, he played 274 holes without a three-putt before doing so on Nos. 10 and 11 on Sunday. Brian Gay holds the longest streak this season, going 286 holes without a three-putt.

Ryan Moore

• Ryan Moore has now posted a runner-up finish in five out of his last six years on TOUR (2010 • AT&T National, 2008 HP Byron Nelson Championship, 2007 Memorial Tournament, 2006 Travelers Championship, 2005 RBC Canadian Open). The one year during that stretch that he failed to record a second-place finish was the same year he posted his only victory (2009 Wyndham Championship).

• With Justin Rose getting into the British Open off of the mini-money list mentioned above, Ryan Moore gains entry into the 2010 British Open as the top finisher in the top 5 at the AT&T National not otherwise eligible.

Tiger Woods

• Defending champion Tiger Woods posted a final-round 71 to finish T46 at 4-over 284. Twenty-two of his 71 career victories have been successful title defenses.

• The 2010 AT&T National represents just the fourth time in Tiger Woods' career that he has failed to break par in a single round when playing a full 72 holes or 90 holes (non-major) on the PGA TOUR. The list is as follows:

Year Event Status Final Rd Finish
2005 Buick Championship 1 69 (-1) 3rd
2006 Canadian Open 1 74 (+4) T14
2007 Bob Hope Classic (90-hole event) T1 76 (+4) 3rd
2009 Children's Miracle Network Classic T1 68 (-4) T4
2010 Travelers Championship 1 75 (+5) T9
2010 AT&T National 1 70 (E) 1st

• Factoring in Major Championships, Tiger Woods has failed to record at least one sub-par round 10 times when playing a full 72 or 90 holes on the PGA TOUR, adding in the following tournaments to the previous list (2007 Masters, 2003 PGA Championship, 1999 British Open, 1998 U.S. Open, 1997 PGA Championship and the 1995 Masters as an amateur).

• This week represented the sixth start for Woods in 2010, with top-10 finishes at the Masters Tournament (T4) and the U.S. Open (T4). In 1998, he won the BellSouth Classic in his ninth start -- his longest stretch to start a season before winning. Here's a breakdown of his career:

1996 -- won in 8th start (three amateur and five professional) starts
1997 -- won in 1st start
1998 -- won in 9th start (longest to start a season before winning)
