When you visit Herb Kohler's luxury resort, you may be tempted to never leave your room for your entire stay. Each room is uniquely decorated, and as you might expect, the bathrooms have no peer.
But trust us. You'll be rewarded for leaving your room and exploring the resort's numerous attractions, including Whistling Straits' Straits course, the windswept lakefront layout that is the site of the 2010 PGA Championship.

WHERE TO PLAY
Blackwolf Run (Championship): Until the end of the 2010 season, work on both Blackwolf Run courses, Meadows Valley and River, means guests will play the Championship course, a composite of the two courses and the layout on which the 2012 U.S. Women's Open will be played.
Whistling Straits (Irish): Although the course never meets Lake Michigan, the dunes offer a sense of the sea. Add in the native forests and the numerous bunkers, and the Pete Dye-designed course offers a unique landscape rarely found in golf.
Whistling Straits (Straits): It is difficult to imagine, but all the dunes, humps and bumps, which look for all the world to be naturally formed by the wind, were designed by Pete Dye on a flat site that used to be an airfield.
WHAT TO DO
Kohler Design Center: Even if you have no desire to make over your house, you'll find numerous ideas after a tour of 36,000-square-foot showroom of products offered by the plumbing-and-fixture company.
Kohler Golf Academy: Whether your game needs a tune-up or an overhaul, you can find the cure at the on-site golf school, which offers programs ranging from one-hour lessons to four-day schools. There are also academies for juniors and women.
Kohler Waters Spa: Not surprisingly, water is the star at this unique spa, flowing freely out of the numerous Kohler fixtures. There are numerous water and bath treatments that soothe, replenish and de-stress.
WHERE TO EAT
Horse & Plow: Formerly the tap room for Kohler employees, this tavern features local pub fare like cheese curds and brats, as well as an extensive array of microbrews and European beers.
Immigrant Room: The resort's signature dining experience celebrates the traditions of the western European settlers who helped shape the history of Wisconsin. Don't leave without sampling selections from the impressive list of local cheeses.
Blackwolf Run: For a change of scenery, head to this clubhouse, where you can enjoy a hearty meal after a 36-hole day while overlooking the Sheboygan River and the finishing hole of the River course.
