Ernie Els has been on top the FedExCup standings for 16 weeks now, but there are six others in the field at the British Open who are in position to knock him from the top spot.

With the TOUR splitting up this week -- some players heading overseas to St. Andrews and others heading west for the Reno-Tahoe Open -- opportunities to move up the standings are plentiful.

Players ranked No. 2 through No. 7 (Steve Stricker, Justin Rose, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Tim Clark and Ben Crane) all have opportunities to take the top spot from Els this week, ending the South African's impressive stretch at No. 1.

There are 34 players (the 34th being defending champion Stewart Cink) who are currently ranked 11th or lower that could potentially jump into the top 10 this week. Of those currently in the top 50, 42 will be playing either in Reno or at St. Andrews this week.

Tiger Woods doesn't fit into either category, but he could move from 113th up to 20th place with a victory at the British Open. A top 10 finish would leave Tiger, at worst, in 83rd position.

Vaughn Taylor (26th) and Ryan Palmer (40th) are the two highest rated players in the field at the Reno-Taho Open. Either would move into the top 20 of the FedExCup standings with a victory in Nevada.

The following is a closer look at the 10 players in the best position to play their way into the top 10 in the FedExCup standings, and what result at the Old Course at St. Andrews it will take to get them there.
