Ernie Els has sat atop the FedExCup standings for nine straight weeks, but that all could come to an end this week at Colonial. With Els not in the field, three player will have a shot at the No. 1 spot.

Els' streak is the longest of this season, but doesn't come close to the record -- 26 weeks by Tiger Woods in 2008. If Els can hang on for a few more weeks, though, he can pass Geoff Ogilvy, who held onto No. 1 for 11 weeks in 2009.
One person playing to replace Els is 2008 Crowne Plaza champ Phil Mickelson -- who could also take over No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings this week. Mickelson would need a win or second place finish to top the FedExCup standings. Same for Jim Furyk. Tim Clark would need his second PGA TOUR win of the season (and career) to dethrone the Big Easy.
While those players are fighting to shuffle the top spots, others are vying to break into the Top 10 in the FedExCup points race. Matt Kuchar was bumped out last week, but a top 10 finish could move him back up.
Here's a closer look at 10 players trying to play their way into the Top 10 in the FedExCup standings, and what result it will take to do so.
