CAP CANA, Dominican Republic -- Co-leader Eduardo Romero has won four of his last 11 starts on the Champions Tour including the Toshiba Classic earlier this month. The Argentinean's recent run dates back to last year's victory at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open in early July. In addition to his win in Endicott, N.Y., Romero claimed the U.S. Senior Open title as well as the SAS Championship in 2008 to bring his total Champions Tour victories to five.

Fellow co-leader Keith Fergus, who is in pursuit of his second Champions Tour victory, is the only player of the three second-round leaders to have turned a second-round lead/co-lead into a win in a 54-hole event. He did so at the 2007 Ginn Championship.
Mark O'Meara, who is bidding for his first Champions Tour title, and Fulton Allem, tied the course record with the low rounds of the day -- 7-under 65s. After opening with a 3-over-par 75, Allem jumped 47 spots on Saturday and is tied for 12th heading into the final round.
Gene Jones was the only player to post a bogey-free round on Saturday.
The winner of the Cap Cana Championship will receive 315 points in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup race. Bernhard Langer, the current leader in the Schwab Cup competition (617 points), is tied for 28th through two rounds. Loren Roberts (305) is tied for 48th through 36 holes and Mike Goodes (304) is tied for 73rd. At the end of the official season, the player with the most Schwab Cup points will earn a $1 million annuity and places 2-5 will earn an annuity as well.
There were 20 rounds in the 60s on Saturday compared to seven sub-70 scores on Friday. The field scoring average in the second round was 71.55 compared to 72.95 on Friday.
The most difficult hole on Saturday was the par-3 No. 13 (3.321/+.321). The hole yielded just three birdies. The par-5 No. 15 was the easiest hole with a scoring average of 4.577/-.423. While only one player (Bruce Fleisher) made an eagle on Friday, there were 10 in Saturday's second round.
Australia's Greg Norman shot an even-par 72 in the second round and is currently tied for 43rd.
Joey Sindelar could be in line for his fourth consecutive top-10 finish in 2008. He is currently tied for fourth after two rounds. Sindelar made his Champions Tour debut at this event in 2008.
Defending champion Mark Wiebe finished at 1-under 71 on Saturday and is tied for 28th through 36 holes.
