THIS WEEK'S Q&A: A year ago, Garth Mulroy only made the cut in half of his Nationwide Tour events. This season, it's rare not to see him play the weekend. In 10 events, the South African has made nine cuts. In April, he won the South Georgia Classic presented by First State Bank and Trust Company, and he is fourth on the money list heading into this week's Nationwide Tour Players Cup in West Virginia. Mulroy recently visited with Laury Livsey of the PGA TOUR communications staff to answer a few questions.

Q: How often do you get back to South Africa?

Garth Mulroy

Player page

MULROY: I try to go at least once a year. Last year I went three times. This year it will probably be once.

Q: If somebody were to visit Durban, what's the restaurant you recommend as one you have to visit?

MULROY: Sebastian's is pretty good. It has some nice views of the ocean. It serves a mix of food. Italian to steak to local fare.

Q: How many holes-in-one have you had?

MULROY: Three. Two competitively. One happened in Vegas at the Big Stakes match-play event in 2005 (which he won with partner David Ping), and the other was in California at a mini-tour event.

Q: What's your favorite place in the U.S.?

MULROY: Scottsdale, Ariz. I spent a year out there, I have a lot of friends there, and it's a pretty fun little spot to be single in.

Q: Do you lift weights?

MULROY: From time to time, yes.

Q: How much could you bench press right now?

MULROY: I don't know, maybe 170. I'm weak.

Q: What's the best part of your game?

MULROY: My iron play is pretty good.

Q: What part do you need to work on?

MULROY: Pitching. That hasn't been too strong lately.

Q: If you weren't a pro golfer, what would you be doing?

MULROY: I'd probably be in South Africa doing something with my dad. He's in the steel-piping business.

Q: Are you glad you're a professional golfer?

MULROY: Yeah, definitely.
