Nationwide Tour Players Cup: Tee times | Field | Power Rankings | MORE: Travelers Championship picks | Sleepers

PGATOUR.COM will have expert picks and sleepers for each Nationwide Tour event this year. Our experts -- Nationwide Tour producer Ceri Mobley and marketing assistant Jordan Crampton, who formerly worked for the Nationwide Tour -- will each choose two players they consider favorites that week and a sleeper pick (a player who is not inside "THE 25"). Here are their selections for this week's Nationwide Tour Players Cup. |
|
| Crampton's picks | Mobley's picks |
| Henrik Bjornstad. Leading my squad this week is the consistent standout from Norway who has a pair of top-five finishes and has only shot one round above 70 in his past two events (T39 and T21 finishes). Although Bjornstad missed the cut here last year, he's ready to keep up his good play and notch his first Nationwide Tour win in West Virginia. |
Chris Tidland. Last week's runner-up is one of the hottest players on Tour right now, and I am shocked Jordan left him on the table. Tidland has two second-place finishes this year and is fifth on the money list. He also has ties for 21st, 26th and 12th at this event. He has to be happy to head to a course he plays well with such momentum. |
| Josh Teater. I'm taking a bit of gamble on a rookie with no experience on this tough Pete Dye track, but Teater has had an impressive showing so far in 2009, making eight cuts and placing in the top 25 four times. Teater's ability to make birdies (seventh in 2009) and consistently break par will help him a lot this week, he needs a good finish here to jump up a few spots on the money list where he is currently 49th. |
Jason Enloe. Yep, he's the guy who won last week, and yep, I realize it's not likely that he'll get back-to-back wins (even Michael Sim hasn't done that). However, Enloe happens to be a past champion of the Players Cup (2006), and guess who he defeated in a playoff for his first Nationwide Tour victory? None other than two-time TOUR champion Boo Weekley. I'd say that's a pretty good memory to take in with you. |
|
| Crampton's sleeper | Mobley's sleeper |
| Jeff Brehaut. The veteran from California has put together a pretty consistent year despite what his ranking on the Money List (76th). Brehaut has made seven cuts and finished inside the top 30 five times. He also made the cut at last week's U.S. Open and tied for 27th here last season. Don't be surprised if he contends this week. |
Oskar Bergman. When this Swede makes the cut, he makes it worth his while -- his worst weekend finish this year is a tie for 36th -- and since he tied for sixth at the Players Cup last year, I think I have a pretty good idea which side of his game will show up this week. Plus, he shares a name with my dog, so, uh, he's got that going for him. |
|
LAST WEEK: Crampton continued his domination of the picks last week with a top-10 and a top-25, while Mobley's picks all missed the cut.
