When the final putt dropped on the 2009 Children's Miracle Network Classic earlier this month, it ended the first decade of the new millennium on TOUR. The decade saw a plethora of new PGA TOUR records -- some of which will probably never be broken -- and a couple of them were set in the closing weeks of the decade.
In terms of scoring records, the 254 that Tommy Armour III shot in the 2003 Valero Texas Open set a new 72-hole scoring record that might stand for awhile. The short, hilly course hosted its last TOUR event in 2009 with the tournament moving to the new TPC San Antonio. Troy Matteson fired off back-to-back 61s at Grayhawk Golf Club in the Frys.com Open in October, but that tournament will be held at CordeValle Resort in California next year.
The most unbeatable record set in the last decade? Aside from everything Tiger Woods has accomplished -- he racked up 56 wins -- it is hard to imagine anyone ever touching the record Stan Utley set in the 2002 Air Canada Championship, where he used only six putts in nine holes. Utley has rightfully used the record to help promote a successful career as a short game guru.
With a new decade set to kick off with the 2010 SBS Championship on Jan. 7, let's take a look back at some key all-time records set on TOUR from 2000 to 2009:
